Duct work refers to the system of ducts (metal or synthetic tubes) used to transfer air from heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment throughout your home. Duct sizing depends on multiple factors like the size of your home, airflow velocity, friction loss and static pressure of the HVAC system. The size of your duct work depends not just on the size of your entire house but also on the size of each individual room. How do you calculate HVAC duct size? Well to calculate the required equipment size, divide the HVAC load for the entire building by 12,000. 1 ton equals 12,000 BTU‘s.
